CALSA Student Scholarship Update

Dear School Superintendents, CALSA members and students:

Sorry for the confusion our change in rules has caused for awarding the 2010 CALSA student scholarship.  I am sorry that the information for how to obtain the scholarship check was not clear.  CALSA has adopted a new requirement for receiving payment.  Below please find the background information that will guide you to obtaining the scholarship.

The twenty student winners were selected before the end of the school year and their names posted on the CALSA website under Scholarships-2010-2011 Recipients.  This year the CALSA Board of Director’s adopted a new set of rules for the program.  Specifically that the winners would not receive their scholarship checks until proof of enrollment in a college or university was received at the CALSA office in Sacramento.  That proof would be a copy of an actual course schedule with the school and students name listed on the schedule. The class schedule is to be faxed to 916-444-3245 or mailed to:

Because the CALSA scholarship application does not include a place where students can write down their personal information (home address, email, or telephone number) we have no way of connecting them directly.  I hope this helps clarify the situation.
